Red Dead Online Leak Reveals Previously-Rumored Battle Royale Mode

Red Dead Online Leak Reveals Previously-Rumored Battle Royale Mode

Battle Royale is coming to the wild west.

Red Dead Online is available now for Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition owners (with the full beta release staggered over the week) but a list of possible online modes already leaked and seems to point towards a battle royale mode in online.

Called "Make It Count" this new Red Dead Online mode sounds similar to other battle royale templates and involves 32 players fighting to be the last one standing in an ever-shrinking battlefield. Weapons are limited as well, so that's also par for the battle royale course. A de facto player count for battle royale games is 100 players but Rockstar seems to be going the smaller route with 32 players for now.

The leak was uncovered on Twitter by user @illoticalMods who uncovered a list of job missions in Red Dead Online via the Social Club webpage. It includes teases for locations and characters.

A battle royale mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 was previously reported in a leak by Trusted Review, but that report was pulled after Rockstar threatened the website with legal action which ultimately led the site to settle for £1m GBP.

Red Dead Redemption 2 now joins other Triple-A games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield 5 by including (or planning to include in Battlefield's case) a battle royale mode into its suite of gameplay options. A response to the popularity of games like Fortnite and PUBG.
