Red Dead Online's Character Creator is Giving Rise to Some Truly Ugly Cowboys
Nobody said the wild west was a pretty place.
Creating a character is probably one of the most important and stressful parts of any video game, but players appear to be having a particularly hard time with Red Dead Online's character creator. Look, the old west was not a pretty place okay?
Red Dead Online went live today for players who own the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2. Right off the bat the first thing you're asked to do is to create a character using Red Dead Online's creation tool. Personally speaking, I had a great time making a character who I believe turned out pretty great. Others had a slightly harder time.
this is 'head 01' in Red Dead Online. Just the standard, normal head. pic.twitter.com/9xWaf51L3e

Red Dead Online's character creator is fairly standard, with players being able to choose a basic facial structure, skin color, hair style, and then being able to tweak bits and pieces of it until your character is complete. It takes some time to get things right, but it's also incredibly easy to just make a mess of things.

This Red Dead Redemption Online character is giving me Oblivion vibes with how ugly everyone is. pic.twitter.com/kxsUlDIeaX

The character creator actually makes it hard to give your characters certain, refined features like good teeth for example since the wild west was a harsh, not very hygenic place. I think it gives the whole character creation thing a certain charm.

One thing to note is because of the staggered release schedule for Red Dead Online not everybody who has a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 can play the online beta just yet. But that hasn't stopped them from envisioning what their characters will look like once the beta becomes available. It even spawned a meme.
