Red Dead Redemption 2 Review Bombed on Amazon Canada Amid Pre-Order Discount Snafu

Red Dead Redemption 2 Review Bombed on Amazon Canada Amid Pre-Order Discount Snafu

There are a lot of reasons why Canadian customers are left without Red Dead Redemption 2.

If you check in on the user reviews for Red Dead Redemption 2 on Amazon, you'll find a pretty good mix of four-star and five-star reviews. But over at Amazon Canada the reviews average to one-and-half stars. That's because Amazon Canada customers are tanking the reviews over missed pre-order deliveries.

Canadian customers who pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 seem to be having a hard time getting their hands on a copy of the game and It's unclear the exact reason why this is. Many affected customers have been trying to contact Amazon to figure out why their copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 were delayed so suddenly but so far there haven't been straightforward answers.

On Reddit Amazon Canada customers are sharing their experiences with Amazon customer service but have mostly received vague explanations such as stock shortages or unexpected delays. Others have are complaining that Amazon has been delaying several high-profile video game releases as of late.

Without a clear answer for the delay some customers are saying it's because of a Canadian post workers' rotating strike in Montreal. Meanwhile others suspect this could be related to Amazon's decision to end the valuable 20 percent Prime discount for physical video game pre-orders on August 28. By cancelling their pre-orders and ordering a new copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 they will lose the Prime discount.

One customer posted a thread on the Red Dead Redemption 2 subreddit 14 days ago that they're flagging this issue with the Competition Bureau of Canada and posted excerpts of an email from Amazon we were able to obtain telling them the delay is affecting all pre-order customers.

All-in-all it appears that whatever caused the delay at Amazon Canada it was serious enough to prevent customers who have pre-ordered a copy as early as 2017 from missing out on playing Red Dead Redemption 2 at launch.

We've reached out to Amazon asking for clarification for the delay but if you're lucky enough to have a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide for a full walkthrough. Or check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 review.
