Resident Evil 2's Free DLC Stars Three Unlikely Characters

Resident Evil 2's Free DLC Stars Three Unlikely Characters

"Ghost Survivors" is something of a misnomer.

Capcom has revealed the first DLC for Resident Evil 2 and it's called The Ghost Survivors. The post-launch DLC will be available for free on February 15.

As previously reported, the post-launch DLC for Resident Evil 2 will star three "unfortunate souls" who never escaped Raccoon City on the night of the zombie takeover. The characters include Kendo the gun shop owner, the mayor's daughter Katherine, and an unknown Umbrella Security Service soldier.

Details from the original Japanese announcement for Ghost Survivors says that it will be released in three different volumes, with more characters potentially announced later. There could also be some roguelike elements, but details are still sparse. We do have three new screenshots and the titles for each story now though, which are: "No Time to Mourn" (Kendo), "Runaway" (Katherine), and "Forgotten Soldier" (USS Soldier).

Capcom Japan also announced free DLC skins for Leon and Claire that make them look like their polygonal selves from the 1998 Resident Evil 2 original. The free DLC outfits will be downloadable for all Resident Evil 2 owners on February 15.

Resident Evil 2 is a remake of Capcom's 1998 zombie sequel. But Resident Evil 2 is such a dramatic reinvention that it feels completely different.
