You Can Reset the Timer on the Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo

You Can Reset the Timer on the Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo

Here's how to play the RE2 1-Shot demo again and again.

Last week Capcom released a Resident Evil 2 Remake demo that ran on a 30-minute timer. If you aren't a fan of being constrained by arbitrary metrics like time, internet sleuths have uncovered a way to reset the Resident Evil 2 Remake demo's timer so it's possible to explore Racoon Police Department HQ as long as you please—at least, if you're on PC.

YouTuber "CursedToast" made a video that shows how you can reset the 30 minute timer on the Resident Evil 2 1-Shot demo by altering a save file in your PC's Steam folder and using the Steam Achievement Manager tool. The latter allows you to re-lock Steam achievements, specifically the various Resident Evil 2 demo achievements that are unlocked for playing a certain amount of time in the demo.

Once those two steps are complete, you can log back into the Resident Evil 2 demo to find your timer reset to the full 30 minutes.

The Resident Evil 2 1-Shot demo is a modified version of the demo we played at E3 2018. But eagle-eyed players are discovering that the 1-Shot demo isn't as straightforward as it seems. There are some secrets that can be unlocked in the demo if you look in the right place, but that 30 minute timer is a pretty big constraint on your ability to explore the full demo. Maybe this little hack will help players uncover even more secrets without needing to worry about the limits of time.

Either that, or you can just check out our full video walkthrough of the Resident Evil 2 demo for an easy way to complete it and see the new trailer.
