Resident Evil 2 Remake Wins E3 2018's Best of Show

Other winners from this year's Game Critic Awards.

This year's E3 2018 is over and the winners of the Game Critics Awards have been announced. Despite the reveal of some big-name titles from some large companies, game of show went to Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake from the PlayStation era.

Run by The Game Awards' Geoff Keighly, the Game Critics Awards takes votes from various established video game outlets, including USgamer. The awards recognize achievements such as Best of Show, Best Console Game, best games per genre, and more.

Here's a complete list of winners for each category below:

  • Best of Show – Resident Evil 2 (Capcom)
  • Best Original Game – Dreams (Media Molecule/SIE)
  • Best Console – Marvel's Spider-Man (Insomniac Games/SIE)
  • Best VR/AR Game – Tetris Effect (Resonair/Enhance/Monstars Inc.)
  • Best PC Game – Anthem (BioWare/EA)
  • Best Hardware/Peripheral – Xbox Adaptive Controller (Microsoft)
  • Best Action Game – Anthem (BioWare/EA)
  • Best RPG – Kingdom Hearts 3 (Square Enix)
  • Best Fighting Game – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Bandai Namco Studios/Sora Ltd./Nintendo)
  • Best Racing Game – Forza Horizon 4 (Playground Games/Turn 10/Microsoft Studios)
  • Best Sports Game – FIFA 19 (EA Vancouver/EA)
  • Best Strategy Game – Total War: Three Kingdoms (Creative Assembly/Sega)
  • Best Family/Social Game – Overcooked 2 (Ghost Town Games/Team 17)
  • Best Online Multiplayer – Battlefield V (EA DICE/EA)
  • Best Independent Games – Ori and the Will of Wisps (Moon Studios/Microsoft)
  • Best Ongoing Game – Fortnite (Epic)
  • Special Commendations for Graphics – Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekt Red), The Last of Us Part 2 (Naughty Dog/SIE), Ghost of Tsushima (Sucker Punch/SIE)
  • Special Commendation for Sound – The Last of Us Part 2
  • Special Commendation for Innovation – Cyberpunk 2077

With games like Anthem, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Last of Us Part 2, Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake win looks even more impressive. But as our own Resident Evil 2 remake preview says, Capcom's horror throwback was truly breathtaking and deserving of the award.
