NPD: Ring Fit Adventure Restock Catapults It Back Into Monthly Best Sellers

Everyone's itching to get fit.

The Ring Fit might have seemed a little gimmicky at first, but thanks to the current global climate, it might be one of the most prescient games of 2020. According to June sales numbers from the NPD Group, Nintendo's Ring Fit Adventure has launched from the bottom of sales up to the top 10 once again.

According to NPD's numbers release today, Ring Fit Adventure came in at number 7 overall in June 2020's Top 20 best-selling games, up from #835 in May. For games on the Nintendo Switch, it finished second behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons, up from spot #239 the month prior.

As analyst Mat Piscatella notes in the thread, this is likely due to new stock of Ring Fit Adventure finally hitting the market. The fitness RPG had been climbing the ranks as early as January, as people got working on their New Year's Resolutions I suppose. But with the outbreak of COVID-19 and mandates to stay inside and away from gyms, alongside the surging popularity of the Nintendo Switch, demand for Ring Fit Adventure spiked and supply shortages soon followed.

With the most recent bout of restocks, it looks like Ring Fit Adventure is poised for another bump in popularity. It's certainly a good workout, and a little more conscious of the current health climate. Ring Fit Adventure still hasn't cracked the top 10 of 2020 to-date, but either way, it certainly seems like a surprise seller.
