Rinoa and Her Deadly Dog Are the Latest to Join Dissidia Final Fantasy NT's Roster

The Final Fantasy VIII heroine is not the type to leave her dog in a kennel.

In the wee month of January, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT released just days following Arc System Works' Dragon Ball FighterZ. Some noted that the poor arena fighter had no room to compete, when in actuality, it's trucked along just fine outside of its arcade origins. As part of its six character season pass, a third new fighter is about to glide into the ring: Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII.

You probably recognize Rinoa Heartilly as the heroine of Final Fantasy VIII alongside Squall Leonhart, who has been in the base game's roster. She's not coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT alone though. Her trusty dog Angelo is also joining the fray again as an ability, just like the Combine Limit Break in Final Fantasy VIII. She even throws a spell that makes Angelo fly through the air like a dog chasing a frisbee. I'm deeply thankful for Rinoa's arrival, because it's given us the ridiculous dog cannon again, now as a spectacle for modern day graphics. Rinoa's outfits for her release seemingly includes the dress she wears to the ball where she first meets Squall too, as seen in the trailer above.

Rinoa is the latest to join the growing roster, following Final Fantasy XII's Vayne Carudas Solidor and Final Fantasy VI's Locke Cole. With Rinoa's release later this summer, that leaves three more characters coming to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT before the season pass is up early next year. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available on PlayStation 4 and its season pass is $29.99. Meanwhile, Dissidia Final Fantasy is also available in arcades.
