Rise of the Tomb Raider - House of the Afflicted Tomb, Catacomb of Sacred Waters, Into the Acropolis, Silent Night

Work your way through the Geothermal Valley and find the Battle Worn Outfit, Belt Buckle relic, submachine gun and other key items.

The Geothermal Valley is host to a ton of treasure and weapons just waiting to be found. Here's everything you need to know to find the Battle Worn Outfit, Belt Buckle relic, submachine gun, and more in the Geothermal Valley.

Geothermal Valley

Head down the path and go up the stairs until you reach the zip line. Use it to slide down to the lower area.

There's a chest directly ahead, which contains a Bolt Action Rifle Part. Grab it, and then head down to the camp fire. There's a box close by that contains a Planter Vase relic. Once you've got everything, go down the stairs to the right of the fire and head into the building on the right to find a manuscript on the table inside. Explore the house next door to find an item box.

Head down the path to the next house on the left and there's another manuscript on the table inside. Go back outside and head up the stairs at the end of the path and speak to the NPC to begin an optional mission that rewards you with a Battle Worn Outfit.

Defensive Strategy

You need four deer hides and four piece of wood to complete this quest – which you give to the NPC. Assuming you have these already, speak to the NPC again to continue the mission. If you don’t have enough, then simple head into the valley and look around until you find what you need. Supplies have to be dropped into the red basket near the NPC, and the rest of them have to be dropped into a second basket at the next tower in the southern part of the region. Once you've done that, return to the NPC to get your Battle Worn Outfit.

Prepare for Battle

Once you've got the outfit, head to the left of the NPC and find the stairs that lead down to the path that goes over the water. Head to the end of the path and then use the bow and rope to swing over to the other side. Look for the satchel that's on the left and then crawl inside the small opening that's to the left of the pole to activate the House of the Afflicted optional tomb.

House of the Afflicted Tomb (Optional)

If you want to do this optional mission, make sure you have poison arrows equipped. As you enter this area, wolves attack you. A single arrow should take care of most of them, and you can easily kill or scare off the rest. Once the wolves are dealt with, head over to the gate and open it, then head up the stairs on the right.

Continue along the path through the ruins until you reach a room with skulls littered around the place. In the corner to the right of the entryway are some Ancient Coins. Go through the small crack in the right-hand corner of the room and through the water until you come to some stairs. There are some corpses in the next room that you can loot, and then open the box on the table to find a Belt Buckle relic.

There's a camp fire in the next room, which also contains a manuscript on the ground next to an item basket. Once you've looted everything, go through the next doorway where you should find some stairs. Look on the ground to the left to find a few resource items hidden there.

There's a level on the left above – if you can't find it use Survival Instinct. Shoot the lever with the bow and rope to raise the platform, then run down the path in the middle of the room. At the end should be an item box containing a Necklace relic. Grab that and then look left. There should be another wooden platform below, as well as a rope attachment. Drop down onto the platform and shoot the attachment with your bow to connect it to the top of the platform.

When you've done that, head into the small alcove between the two wooden platforms and you should find a cart with a barrel and rope attachment on the top. Pull this towards the middle of the room as far as it can go.

Go back to the lever and stand next to where the water barrel above will land – and be careful not to stand directly under it. Shoot the lever with the bow and rope, then head towards the barrel that lowers to the ground, and then the large barrel on the cart to connect them. This should keep the water barrel near the ground and make the two wooden platforms remain where they are.

Now head up the stairs to the entrance of the room. At the top are some beams that you can use to reach the platform. Jump right until you reach the other platform, and keep on going until you reach the narrow wooden ledge.

Move right until you can climb up, then go into the room straight ahead. There's a ton of loot here, so grab that, and then examine the pedestal to earn the Faster Healer skill that enables you to bandage wounds more quickly.

Head out of the room and go left to find a zip line that takes you back down to the ground.

Prepare for Battle

Go south to reach the next destination marker on your map. When you come to a log bridge on the left, go across it and find the item box that holds another Submachine Gun part.

Once you reach the destination point, you can then go south to the next one. Continue up the stairs to the south to reach another camp fire.

Head up the stairs next to the camp fire and go to the ruins. There's the remains of a bridge at the top. Before you head over it, look straight ahead and there should be white paint on a wall near a tree. Climb up to the tree branch and then move along the top of the wall.

Look to the left before the next set of stairs and there should be a climbable wall that you can use your axe on. On the left of this wall is an area where you can jump up to reach the wooden beam above. Cross the beams to make your way to the room at the top, and there should be an item box in the far right corner that contains an Iron Tool relic.

There's a wooden ramp nearby which you can use to jump across to the next building. Inside there's a chair, which you can sit in to earn an achievement.

Head down into the room below and read the mural. Speak to the woman to start the Ancient Secrets optional mission. This is a fairly major mission that requires you to find nine tombs and use the pedestals in each one to learn their secrets. For each secret you obtain, speak to the quest giver and you'll receive 10 Ancient Coins. When you've found all nine tombs and their secrets, you can speak to her to earn the Sacra Umbra Outfit. At this point of the game, you should have already been to three of them, and can receive 30 coins by speaking to the woman.

Head out through the window in the wall to the right of the mural and go to the building directly ahead. There should be a strongbox containing another Submachine Gun part. Now go back to the bridge.

Stand next to the pole and shoot a rope down to the far right side of the bridge to create a zip line. Use the line, and then climb up the wall that's directly in front of you. Climb the stairs, jump over the wooden platform and then use the beam to cross to the rock all.

Climb right as far as you can go, then drop down by holding B and quickly pressing X to grab the rock wall. Jump to the right, then jump right again to reach the beams connected to the wall. Head all the way right and then climb up the wall until you reach the top. There's a collapsible platform here, so quickly move across it and then move to the next wall and continue around the structure.

Climb up the wall to the right, then jump over to the next wall and climb up some more. Head to the edge of the platform and jump onto the white beam on the wall. Make sure you jump right from the edge of the platform – it's doable, but it's a long jump and if you jump short, you'll fall. Move to the right and jump over to the rock wall and clamber up to the top. There's an Oil Flask on the table, which enables you to make fire arrows.

Go to the platform to the right of where the flask was, and jump onto the beam above. Climb the wall, then jump over the rock wall to the left and climb as far left as you can. Now climb the wall, move to the right and jump over to the hanging platform. Go right until you can climb onto it, then craft a fire arrow and use it to fire up the beacon that's above you.

There should be more oil and an item basket nearby, so grab those. Now head over to the pole to the right of the canister and make a zip line by firing a rope at the attachment below. Head down and go to the next destination point on the map.

When you get there, go into the water and swim through it to avoid the helicopters. When you get to the water's edge, there's a cut scene which awards you with a shotgun.

There are three guards directly ahead of you, so take them out, and once you've made your way through the building, you'll have to deal with a soldier with a flame thrower. Don't touch him, but instead dodge to his left or right and get behind him, then shoot the tank on his back. Hit him a couple of times, and he'll die.

To The Tower

Go into the building nearby and grab the loot. Then head down the path outside and you should find a loot crate containing a Bolt Action Rifle component. Continue down the path and go into the water and head over to the log in the middle of the pond. You can use it to reach the cave to the left to enter the optional tomb, Catacomb of Sacred Waters.

Catacomb of Sacred Waters (Optional)

Grab the item box from the small alcove just before the stairs, then go up them and through to the cave on the right. Follow the water and slide down the waterfall into the pool, and then go through the small opening in the far wall.

Go to the pole and shoot a rope at the pole on the other side of the pool. Continue down the stairs into the burial chamber and open up the item box on the right to get a Silver Basket relic. Now climb the wall to the left of the box and head down the path to find a camp fire.

Stand near the rope pole at the bottom of the stairs to the left and shoot the rope attachment on the raft that should be in front of you. Jump onto the raft when it gets to you and then shoot the rope attachment near the island in the middle to make the raft move. Be careful when you jump, as the water is deadly here.

Timing is important here. When the raft reaches the island, the rope will begin to break, so cut it and this will make the raft turn towards the stairs on the island. Jump to the island as the raft floats away. Go up the stairs to find a manuscript and some Ancient Coins.

Head back down the stairs and go to the rope pole on the island. You should be able to see a rope attachment behind the waterfall. This is another raft. Move as close to it as you can, then shoot the rope attachment on it, When it moves out of the waterfall, jump on it and quickly shoot the rope pole across the pool. Once you've hit it, press X and rotate the left stick to pull the boat to the shore.

Hope onto the platform and then go upstairs and into the next room. Make sure you grab all the loot, and the go down the stairs in the far left corner to find more loot and a pedestal. Examine it to learn Anatomical Knowledge, which boosts your damage capabilities on animals.

Look around to find a bunch of loot, including a Goblet relic, and once you're done head to the boat. Shoot at the rope pole on the island, jump to the far side and head to the camp fire.

Go back the way you came in, and climb the rock wall when you reach the pool. Climb up the next wall, and then use the zip line to get to the opposite shore. Climb up the wall to the ledge, move as far left as you can and then drop to the ground. This leads you back to Geothermal Valley.

To The Tower

Head to the next destination point, but make sure you go a little west of the bridge to reach a camp fire. Behind it is a level four Greek monolith, and up the stairs to the left of the fire is more loot. Once you're done collecting everything, head across the ruined bridge to the end, and then jump over to the rock wall. Climb to the top, and go into the structure there and up the stairs to reach the Acropolis.

Into the Acropolis

Head through the cracked door and down the path all the way to the end. There's loot to be found here, so grab it. To the left, just before the fallen cart is a boulder that you can climb up. Head down the stairs, across the log and jump over the water to the path on the other side.

Look for a rock with white paint on it, and climb up. Head down the path there, and when you reach the end, jump over to the rock face. Climb up to the top and then head right until you hit the stairs, which you should climb up. Stand next to the pole on the left and use your rope to create a zip line leading to the log above. Now head into the water.

Head through the tunnel and down the stairs to the right and go into the village directly ahead of you. Go to the camp fire on the left, then continue forward to the village. When you reach the village, look into the tent on the right to find a Heavy Pistol part. There’s also a manuscript on the ground, and another one at the very end of the path to the right.

Once you've got the loot, head left and check the other tent there. It contains a Reliquary relic. Head to the next destination point.

Reach the Tower

Getting to the next destination requires killing some soldiers. There are plenty of resources that enable you to do this fairly quickly – either via stealth moves or simply by shooting your way through them.

Once you've taken care of the enemies, head to the far right corner down the path that's on the right. There are two more soldiers here, which you need to take out, before you can continue onwards. Go through the tunnels and take out the enemies you find there, and look for an archway. There should be some Ancient Coins on the floor nearby.

Drop down into the next area and take out the pair of soldiers in the room nearby, and then go through the small hole on the far left corner. There are more enemies here, but they can be taken care of with a well-placed poison arrow.

After that, head to the breakable wall in the corner, bust through it, and continue down the corridor. Head down to the path below and examine the mural, then climb up the wall on the opposite side and walk to the window.

Go through the window and drop down to the area below. After Lara makes a grenade arrow, restock your supply of them, as well as normal arrows. There are some loot crates nearby, one of which contains a Deer Charm relic. Once you've collected everything, head back to the window and shoot a grenade arrow at the debris below that's blocking the door.

Go up the stairs and there's a camp fire on the right. There's also a manuscript on a table nearby. Take the next set of stairs and cross the beam, to find another manuscript on the ground to the left, and then continue down the path. When you reach the end, jump over to the ledge.

In the left corner is an item box containing a Bullae relic. Once you have it, go back in the opposite direction and use a grenade arrow on the debris blocking the door. Go through the gap, and take out the enemies on the other side.

Once you've taken care of the enemies, you can find a strongbox on the far right side containing an Enhancement Tool that unlocks additional weapon upgrades. There's also a bunch of loot in the area, so make sure you pick it all up. Once you're done, use a grenade arrow to destroy the rubble blocking the way forward.

Go up the stairs and take out the next set of enemies. There are soldiers on the bridge above, which you can take out in one go by hitting the oil drum. Continue forwards, destroying any enemies you encounter.

Rescue Mission

Continue onwards and deal with the enemies in the next two rooms. Once you've cleared the area, go back to the first room to find a manuscript. Head back out and down the path, and slide under the door to move into the next room.

There's a bunch of soldiers in the next area, so you'll need to be on your toes for this battle. Try to use poison arrows to take out multiple enemies at once, and use your shotgun if anyone gets too close. The armored soldiers are easily dealt with by using poison arrows again. Try to get them grouped close together and take them out by shooting one in the middle of the group.

Back to the Forest

After the next cut scene, use the zip line to cross the chasm, and then jump and press X to use the grapple axe to cross the next gap. Continue across the log, then jump and use the grapple axe again to cross to the far side.

There's a manuscript in the brush to the right. Once you have it, head down the path again and jump across it and use the grapple axe to stick to the rock wall. Climb down and leap over the ledge to the right. Climb up, and then head down the path. Use the grapple axe to climb up the next rock wall, and then head down the path to go to Geothermal Valley.

Silent Night

There should be a strongbox just before the camp fire containing a Bolt Action Rifle component. When you get to the fire, head right and collect the salvage box to the left and use the grapple axe to reach the zip line and drop down to the lower area. Go down the stairs to the lower area, then go right and use a grenade arrow on the side of the hut in front of you. There's a strongbox inside containing a Heavy Pistol part.

Go upstairs, and there should be three salvage boxes and a manuscript on the grassy area in front of you. Go back towards the hut, and you should see a tree that you can climb. Head up, jump onto the higher branch, and then over to the platform. There should be a map on the table. Once you've read it, use the zip line to go back down again.

Go through the water until you reach a soldier standing on the shore. Use your Survival Instinct and wait in the water until he has a yellow outline – meaning nobody can see him – and once he has one, swim over to him and take him down with a stealth kill.

There are more enemies in the next area, and they can all be taken down with stealth kills. Use Survival Instinct again, and kill soldiers with a yellow outline. There's also a soldier at the top of the stairs, but he shouldn’t approach until you kill off everyone.

When you've taken care of all the enemies, head upstairs and go into the hut directly ahead. There should be a recorder on the ground to the right. Look for a white painted wall and climb up it to activate a cut scene, then take out the soldiers that are in the next area. Poison arrows work great here, and you can also use grenade arrows in a punch. On the right hand side of this area is a strongbox that contains the final piece of the Bolt Action Rifle.

Grab the recorder on the crates, and wood that's to the left of it, and then start heading towards the next destination marker.

Go up the stairs into the next building, then go to the second floor. There should be a recorder by the stairs. Go out onto the balcony and use the grapple axe to reach the beams on the wall to the left of where you are. Work your way right, and then jump over to the beam and climb the rock face until you hit the top. Now go downstairs. There should be a manuscript nearby, just before the next camp fire.

Now move into the next area, taking care to watch for the cougar that will attack you from the rocks above. If you're ready for it, it should be easy to take out. Continue along the stairs and you should find an item box containing an Arrowhead relic. Now climb up, and take care of the soldier that's at the top. His back should be towards you, making it easy to take him down stealthily.

Head into the ruins, take out the next two soldiers and you'll be ready to enter the Flooded Archives and the Cathedral.
