Roald is the New Star of the Animal Crossing Community

There's a new star on the block.

There's a new star in town. The Animal Crossing community has developed something of a fixation with the adorable Roald, and the penguin has somehow emerged as one of the more popular characters at the moment.

The Animal Crossing subreddit is awash with premium Roald content. One of the more prolific postings about Roald involve him being inserted into different scenarios every single day, until Animal Crossing: New Horizons eventually launches on March 20.

Roald's so famous, he's actually made it into famous Victorian-era paintings. If you're unfamiliar with Roald, he's a penguin described as a "jock," and has featured in the series since the very first Animal Crossing game in 2002 for the GameCube.

I don't really know why everyone's so fixated on Roald of all the characters. Look, I'm not saying Roald was a bad choice, but there's an unbelievably cute range of characters throughout Animal Crossing, I just wonder where the love for Roald originated from.

Even Bernie wants Roald pics, and who are we to deny him such a humble request. Although the Animal Crossing wiki lists Roald as a confirmed character for New Horizons, there's so far been no confirmed sighting or confirmation from Nintendo that the penguin will appear in the new Animal Crossing game coming next month.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches on March 20, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch. That's the same day as Bethesda's Doom Eternal, and both communities have been sharing the love around a lot of late.
