Rocket League Adds New Ways to Earn Rewards in Season 5

Season Reward Levels, EDM, and Rick and Morty all in the new update.

The new season of Rocket League kicks off (wheels off?) today with some changes to how the competitive season will work going forward. This includes a new season rewards system, new loot drops, and Rick and Morty goods.

Rick and Morty Rocket League add-ons

The new Anniversary Update, which celebrates two years since Rocket League first took the gaming world by storm, adds a new arena called 'Champions Field,' along with a new system called the "Season Reward Level".

The Season Reward Level is separate from the mathmaking rank and determines what rewards you'll earn by the end of the season (Psyonix is working on it so that next season you'll earn rewards as you go). There are several ranks ranging from unranked to platinum, and 20 wins will bump you up a rank. Losses to not count against you thankfully. Reward ranks also go in sequential order so Gold players cannot unlock Platinum awards.

As for Competitive Skill ranks, those will carry over from the last season instead of resetting. Psyonix says this is because reset ranks force the matchmaking algorithm to recalibrate, making matchmaking "poor" for the first couple weeks.

In addition, there are a bunch of cosmetic additions added for players like new cars, decals, sound effects, etc. This also includes the Rick and Morty bonuses we wrote about before.

Likewise, the "Rocket League Radio" adds 18 tracks from the "Rocket League x Monstercat" playlist, a collaboration with the EDM label to get your rave on.
