Rocket League disclosed the odds for loot box rewards in a blog post yesterday. So if you're wondering what your chances are for getting that one particular rare drop, check out the figures posted by Psyonix below.
The move can be seen largely as a response to last year's loot box controversy which forced many developers to alter their loot box practices amid complaints that the system was unfair or unhealthy.
Rocket League offers different tiers of cosmetic rewards through loot boxes and players interested in trying their odds can finally seek the breakdown of rewards in each loot box. We have the full list of loot box odds below:
- Rare Item: 55 percent
- Very Rare Item: 28 percent
- Import Item: 12 percent
- Exotic Item: 4 percent
- Black Market Item: 1 percent
- Chance of receiving Painted attribute: 25 percent
- Chance of receiving Certified attribute: 25 percent
Rocket League says that this is the same odds for the Crates and Keys system since it launched in September 2016 and that every Crate is subjected to these rates. Even the Champion Series Crates as well as the upcoming Crate this summer. If the odds ever change, Psyonix says it will tell players that it has.
Rocket League says that its Crates are a three-step process. When you open a Crate with a Key or Decryptor the system first chooses a rarity like Rare, Very Rare, etc. based on the odds. The system then figures out which item from the group to drop, and if the item will drop painted or certified.
Rocket League also recently announced the "Rocket Pass" a Battle Pass-like system found in games like Fortnite and PUBG where players can play certain number of hours or complete certain missions to win rewards. It's a more exp-based reward system with pre-determined rewards that can be won through specific quests.
Rocket League recently announced season 6 of its Champion Series esports tournament with a $1 million prize pool. For more on Rocket League check out our complete Rocket League guide for tips and tricks.
