Scott Pilgrim Returns This Holiday With a Complete Edition

Scott Pilgrim Returns This Holiday With a Complete Edition

Yep, it's finally happening.

It's been 10 years since Scott Pilgrim became a surprise Xbox Live Arcade brawler hit. This coming holiday season, Scott and the crew are back in action to beat up on some evil exes all over again.

Revealed during today's Ubisoft Forward stream, the retro-styled beat 'em up Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game returns with a complete edition this holiday season. The old-school brawler will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC.

It looks like everything from the original will be included, including minigames like Dodgeball and the "Bass Hero" boss fight section. The Complete Edition will also have Knives Chau and Wallace Wells as included characters, so you can beat up seven evil exes with even more fighters.

Despite the enduring legacy of the Scott Pilgrim game, it seemed like there wasn't much hope for a re-release for a long time. Those involved with it, including Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley certainly gave off mixed signals about its potential return.

Today, at least, it seems like we'll finally have a version of Scott Pilgrim to carry forward into the forseeable future. "Huge thank you to the fans who never shut up about the Scott Pilgrim game, not once, ever, even for one second to let me sleep," O'Malley tweeted today following the reveal. "This game belongs to you. Now please get out of my house."

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition will hit PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in holiday 2020.

As part of a larger reckoning with sexual harassment and misconduct within the industry, Ubisoft has been the focus of numerous allegations. Those allegations include sexual assault and predatory behavior, and have led to a public response from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot promising to make "fundamental changes" to the publisher's culture and working practices. Guillemot has also been accused of fostering that culture within the publisher, and knowingly allowing those responsible to remain in positions of power. Ahead of today's Ubisoft Forward stream, he released a recorded statement on the matter.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail was fired from Ubisoft Montreal following allegations of manipulative behavior. Two Ubisoft vice presidents, Tommy François and Maxime Béland, both left the company following numerous allegations of misconduct and abusive behavior. Both were members of the Editorial Department, an advisory group for every Ubisoft title. Watch Dogs Legion brand marketing manager Andrien Gbinigie was accused of sexual assault and his position at the publisher is currently unknown. There are also further investigations involving misconduct happening within Ubisoft, with Chief Creative Officer Serge Hascoet, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat, and Global Head of HR Cecile Cornet all resigning.

While Ubisoft's games were developed by large multinational teams, it's worth noting these issues and the impact they've had on developers at those studios. Especially in regards to abuse from executive level employees.
