Secret World Legends Is Getting a Television Series

Magic, monsters, and conspiracies collide in the Secret World mythos. Can Johnny Depp's production company make a solid TV series out of the game?

Funcom announced today that The Secret World Legends will be receiving its own television adaptation in the future. The TV show will be coming from Infinitum Nihil, a production company founded by actor Johnny Depp. The show will be produced by Depp, Christi Dembrowski, Sam Sarkar, and Gudrun Giddings, with a pilot offering written by James V. Hart (Hook, Dracula, Contact).

"The Secret World universe is full of stories just waiting to be told," says Funcom CEO Rui Casais. "From secret societies to myths and legends that are all coming true, The Secret World captures some of humanity's greatest mysteries and asks 'what if?'. As the developers of The Secret World and Secret World Legends, we think it is a fantastic premise for a television show and one we hope will capture the collective imagination of the audience."

Gudrun Giddings optioned the media rights for the property back in 2012 and has been working on developer a show for quite some time.

"From the moment Gudrun first brought this to me, I loved this property. I live for conspiracy theory. I don't believe it, but I love it. This is the secret story of the people who rule the people who rule the world," says producer Sam Sarkar.

There is no timetable for the release of the pilot episode, nor has Infinitum Nihil made a deal with a network to pick up the pilot.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
