Sega Forever Brings Classic Genesis Games To Mobile On June 22

Look, they're on mobile devices, but they're free with ads!

Sega announced today Sega Forever, a collection of classic Sega Genesis games coming to Android and iOS devices. The games are completely free if you decide to leave ads on, though folks can spend $1.99 per game to remove ads. Sega Forever games will include controller support, cloud saves, leaderboards, and oddly iMessage stickers on iOS devices.

"Above all else SEGA Forever is a celebration of nostalgia. It’s about allowing fans to reconnect with past experiences and share them with family and friends in an accessible and convenient way," said Sega Mobile chief marketing officer Mike Evans. "Join us on a journey of rediscovery as we roll out two decades of classic games free on mobile. Enjoy moments of nostalgia on the go, or sync a Bluetooth controller to enjoy a console-like experience in your living room."

The collection kicks off tomorrow, June 22, with five titles.

  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Phantasy Star II
  • Comix Zone
  • Kid Chameleon
  • Altered Beast

Sega has promised that new releases will come every two weeks. The official artwork points to further Sega systems coming to the service, including Master System, Game Gear, Saturn, and Dreamcast.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
