Shiny Meltan Now Available In Pokemon Go For a Limited Time: How to Get One

Our favorite already-shiny Pokemon is getting a Shiny version.

'Tis the season for red envelopes tipped with cash and shiny Meltans in Pokemon Go. Meltan, by their very nature, is already fairly shiny, but their Shiny form makes them even shinier. Imagine that!

To get the Shiny Meltan, you have to use a Mystery Box in Pokemon Go. To get a Mystery Box, you must link your Pokemon Go account with your copy of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee. If you open a Mystery Box from February 5 through March 4, then you have a chance to be rewarded with the Shiny Meltan. And don't worry: the day minimum for opening up another Mystery Box has been reduced from seven days to just three for the event.

Also new in Pokemon Go is the even more limited Lunar New Year event, which lasts from February 4 to February 13. During the event, you can catch a Shiny Spoink. Pokemon in close relation to zodiac signs are also bounding around the world at a higher frequency, coupled with the event's offer of double XP in capturing and evolving Pokemon and the increased chance for lucky Pokemon after trading.
