The next entry in the Shovel Knight franchise is Spectre of Torment, starring Spectre Knight from the Order of No Quarter! The game fills in the event prior to the actual Shovel Knight game with new levels and bosses to conquer. The last Shovel Knight content was Plague of Shadows, showing Plague Knight's exploits during the events of the base game. According to Yacht Club, Spectre of Torment has been developed as a standalone entry in the series.
"You’ll not only play through Specter Knight’s own story, but also see new areas, new music, new enemies, new objects, new boss fights, new weapons, new armors, and way, way more than ever before. Even the villainous boss knights have prepared new tricks and tactics!" said the developer in a blog post.
"While Plague of Shadows followed an alternate parallel campaign, Specter Knight travels a new path in this amazing prequel. It’s your mission as Specter Knight to recruit the Order of No Quarter for The Enchantress! Specter Knight’s campaign truly is his own adventure," explained Yacht Club.
Shovel Knight: Spectre of Torment is coming in Spring 2017 for all platforms.
