Sicario 2 Director Rumored to Helm Call of Duty Movie

Activision Blizzard Studios is still gearing up its film adaptation of the Call of Duty series.

Activision Blizzard Studios, the film division of Activision Blizzard, is moving ahead with its plans to develop a film based on the Call of Duty series. Reports from Variety even say that the company has tapped Sicario 2: Soldado director Stefano Sollima to direct the military-action film.

Plot details for the Call of Duty film are currently unknown, but considering the series goes through multiple time periods beginning with the 20th century, it's not easy to guess which of its many games the film will adapt. Or perhaps the film will venture into completely original territory for that matter.

However, in an interview with the Guardian in April 2017, Activision Blizzard Studio Presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk expressed interest in building a film franchise that draws on the various video game incarnations, presumably talking about different Call of Duty series like Modern Warfare, Black-Ops, and maybe even the new WW2.

Sher and van Dyk are producing the Call of Duty film along with Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. Reports say Keiran Fitzgerald will be writing the script and develop it alongside Sollima.
