Another Konami classic is getting some new life on PC, just in time for Halloween. Silent Hill 4: The Room is currently available on GOG for PC.
Added as part of GOG's 12th anniversary celebration, Silent Hill 4 is joined by Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord and The Talos Principle as new games on the GOG storefront. There are other sales and discounts available as well on the site.
Silent Hill 4: The Room is something of a cult classic, as one of the stranger games in the Silent Hill series (and that's saying something). Centered around Henry Townshend, who has been locked inside his own apartment and having nightmares, it's a very different set-up compared to the usual trip through the town of Silent Hill itself.
Still, it's been somewhat well-regarded in the past, gaining its own following for the departures it makes from the norms of Silent Hill. It's also the latest Konami game to get a new PC re-release, as several classic Metal Gear games hit the GOG storefront just last week. This includes the original Metal Gear and the first two Metal Gear Solid games, as well as a Castlevania and Contra classics collection.
If this is signalling a willingness for Konami to open up more of its back catalog, especially for certain series, that's exciting. Castlevania has seen a few archival collections already, but Metal Gear and Silent Hill have some history attached to them. Maybe finally letting some of these loose again on PC can drum up some fervor.
