Who needs remasters when you have mods? When it comes to resurrecting old games with updated, modern visuals, we can just look to dedicated fans hellbent on bringing to life old favorites whose graphics have long aged. Take for instance Skyblivion, a new mod project that is remaking The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the Skyrim engine.
TESRenewal is the group behind Skyblivion, and if that name sounds familiar it's because they've done something similar with The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Skyblivion already has an update trailer showcasing some of the groups work with Oblivion. Check it out in the video below.
Upon release of Skyblivion, players will be able to pick and choose components of the mod they want installed. Whether it's a Landscaping Overhaul, Interior Overhaul, City Overhaul, Weapon/Armor Overhaul or anything else currently under development by the mod team.
TESRenewal says the mod will be completely free, but will require players to own both Skyrim and Oblivion, as well as all DLC before installing the mod. Without any of those components, the installer will not recognize the Skyblivion mod.
