Sleeping Dogs Developer United Front Games Reportedly Shut Down

There's no official confirmation from the studio yet, but all signs point to United Front Games being gone.

The are incoming reports and rumors that Sleeping Dogs and Smash+Grab developer United Front Games is no more. The rumor first began on NeoGAF, where moderator Bishoptl heard that members of the Vancouver-based studio were being let go. Gamespot has since confirmed with its own sources that the rumors are true. There's been no official confirmation from United Front Games, though we have reached out for comment.

No more Wei Shen is coming.

United Front Games' last title was Smash+Grab, a three-on-three multiplayer title where teams of players tried to loot urban areas. The game is in Early Access and was free-to-play over the weekend, but it's no longer purchasable on Steam.

Prior to Smash+Grab, the company worked on Triad Wars, another multiplayer online title, set in the world of Sleeping Dogs. Sleeping Dogs is the studio's best known game, an absolutely sublime open-world title that did not overstay its welcome. Fans constantly clamored for a sequel to Sleeping Dogs, but Square Enix holds the rights to the series, no United Front.

We await official confirmation on the reports, but in the meantime, we hope everyone affected by the potential closure finds new employment soon.
