Super NES Classic Goes Live on GameStop, Site Promptly Goes Down [Update: It's on Thinkgeek Now]

The madness has begun.

Update: GameStop is back, but the SNES Classic is no longer available. Looks like we'll have to sit tight for a little while longer.

Update 2: It's also on Thinkgeek at the moment. The checkout page is returning system errors, but I did receive a note from PayPal that money was being withdrawn for an item, so we'll have to see what happens there.

It's the middle of the night in the U.S., but it seems plenty of people are awake and eagerly anticipating the launch of the SNES Classic.

Word hit about 15 minutes ago that SNES Classic was live on GameStop. The site promptly slowed to a crawl; and as of now, isn't loading.

This is probably only the tip of the iceberg. While stores are showing plenty of stock, most are holding them until Friday morning.

The package that crashed GameStop.

The SNES Classic will be in stock at Best Buy at 7am, where they will be handing out tickets. It's likely to be a similar situation at Target.

If you don't want to get up early and brave the lines, keep an eye on Twitter and keep refreshing GameStop. In the meantime, here's everything we know about the SNES Classic and how to get one, as well as our review of every single SNES Classic game.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. See our terms & conditions.
