Soma Developer Releases Ominous Teaser For Its Next Game

Tasi might want to write down that they are, indeed, Tasi.

Frictional Games has made some pretty terrifying horror games, and now, it looks like the next one is on its way. The studio released a new video today, called "I am Tasi," teasing its next game.

In the less than 30 seconds run-time, the teaser shows someone talking to themselves, pushing onward to open their eyes. "Don't lose it," they struggle out, as it seems they're searching for someone. It closes with the phrase, "I am Tasi. I am still Tasi."

Then, as their eyes finally open wide, it shows a desert landscape with a lone tree, a brewing storm, and a mysterious glowing blue rock. I've played enough of Frictional's games to know that blue glow is nothing but trouble. Also, it sounds like the protagonist of this trailer is having memory or identity issues, as they have to repeat their name back to themselves, saying they are Tasi. It sounds a little similar to Soma, though thankfully, we haven't seen any sunken techno-monsters of the deep yet.

Frictional Games has been teasing its next project for a while, with a few videos like "Box 52, Tape 16" to ramp up the tension around whatever this next game might be. Known for developing horror games like Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's likely to be pretty scary. Maybe the studio will include another safe mode option?

This new video is probably the result of, or some clue for, an ongoing ARG, though the studio's been quiet on whether an ARG is currently happening right now or not. Either way, looks like some good scares are coming our way in the future.
