Someone's Recreated Hyrule in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Terraforming your way to the past.

One of the big new additions for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability to terraform your island. Through the power of Tom Nook, you can recreate your deserted island in your vision, and one person's used that opportunity to recreate Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

You can see the full overview of their reshaped island in New Horizons just below. It's complete with the Death Mountain area in the northeast, a little village representing Kakariko Village in the west, and many more locations from A Link to the Past.

You won't have unlocked the terraforming ability if you're still early on in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's only unlocked as an option after you've gone through all the necessary steps to have KK Slider play at your island. After this, you can finally get the Island Designer app from Tom Nook and go about terraforming your island, which is no small task, especially if you're recreating your island in the vision of another game like A Link to the Past.

If you are still relatively early on in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then you might want to check out our extensive guides on Nintendo's new game. You can head over to our New Horizons controls list, or our New Horizons seasons guide. Alternatively, you can check out our New Horizons Bunny Day guide, for the latest event to hit the game.

Hirun Cryer is by far the most juvenile member of USgamer. He's so juvenile, that this is his first full-time job in the industry, unlike literally every other person featured on this page. He's written for The Guardian, Paste Magazine, and Kotaku, and he likes waking up when the sun rises and roaming the nearby woods with the bears and the wolves.
