"Compelling" PS5 Games Lineup to be Revealed "Soon," Sony Says
The information was revealed at a Sony corporate strategy meeting.
It sounds like the first PS5 games could be revealed very soon. In a Sony corporate strategy meeting on May 19, forthcoming game reveals were addressed briefly.
The meeting notes were recapped on Twitter by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad. "Plan to show compelling lineup of titles soon," Ahmad's recap notes read, in a tweet thread that recapped the entire meeting.
It sure sounds from these notes as though Sony plans on revealing a few games at once for the PS5. It's ultimately anyone's guess (for now) as to what games could be revealed for the next-gen console. Last month Guerrilla Games hinted at a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn in a since-deleted tweet, and third-party games like Rainbow Six Siege, Final Fantasy 14, and Dreams have all been confirmed to be coming to the PS5 at some point.
There's also no confirmation of when these games will be announced. The oft-rumored PS5 reveal event, where the console will be shown off in full for the first time, has yet to be announced, but industry rumors have repeatedly pencilled the reveal event in for some point in June. Just last week, Epic debuted the Unreal Engine 5 demo, which was running on a PS5, a dazzling technical showcase.
At the Sony corporate strategy meeting, it was reiterated again that the PlayStation 5 is still on track to launch near the end of 2020. A previous report claims that early production of the PS5 will be limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but there's no sign of the console being delayed right now.
