Sony's New State of Play This Week Looks at the PS4 MediEvil Remake and Debuts a New Game

"But what about—" No PlayStation 5 news. Sorry.

Sony's got a new State of Play PlayStation showcase brewing. It's not scheduled to be a very long show, but you can expect to see something new and (hopefully) cool regardless.

The next State of Play, which Sony announced on its official PlayStation blog earlier today, airs on May 9 (that's this Thursday) at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET. That's smack in the middle of dinnertime for us East Coasters, but don't worry: The whole shebang is only supposed to take about ten minutes. It'll be done before you're finished chewing your steak—or whatever you're eating that evening.

Sony promises an "an extended look at MediEvil," as well as announcements and updates about other titles in development. Of particular note is " a first look at a new title." Hmm.

Oh, and there'll be some PlayStation 5 news, right? Right?? Down, kids, Down. The blog post specifically states "Don’t expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time. Sorry!"

Don't the lack of PlayStation 5 info make you sad. It'll be good to get some information about MediEvil; we haven't heard much about the PlayStation 4 remake of the classic PSOne action game since Fall of last year. We're certainly jazzed to learn more about this new mystery title Sony is set to announce, too.

The first State of Play aired on March 25. The show doesn't command as much hullabaloo as a Nintendo Direct, but it's still a good way for Sony to get us all up-to-date on what's going on in the neat-o world of PlayStation.
