Sony's PSVR is Even Cheaper After Price Cut

A new reality.

Sony is discounting the PlayStation VR again, cutting the price by as much as $100. The discount will go into effect starting March 29, and marks the second time that sony's virtual reality headset bundle gets a price cut.

The PS VR headset will soon be sold for $299 starting tomorrow. That's compared to the original $349 price the VR headset was previously. The bundles will get an even steeper price cut as the DOOM "VFR" PSVR bundle, which includes the headset, PlayStation Camera, Demo Disc 2.0, and a copy of Doom will be priced at $299. A hundred dollars off its $399 price tag.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim VR bundle, which includes much of the same as the Doom bundle except the games included, will be priced at $349.99 as it also contains two PlayStation Move controllers. Although we did find that Skyrim VR tended to make us a bit sick.

If you recall, Sony held a limited event back in December where first-come, first-serve buyers could purchase the PSVR bundle at a discounted price. Sony has apparently decided to make the discounts permanent.

We reviewed the PSVR when it launched, writing at the time that it deserved credit for being a "highly impressive and semi-affordable VR device," though it curious observers could stand to wait a bit before adopting. Now appears to be that time as the PSVR is cheaper than ever, and the VR library of games is more robust.
