Soul Calibur 6 Keeps Adding to its Roster with the Return of Ivy and Zasalamel

Scythes and whips, oh my.

We still don't know the full roster for the upcoming Soul Calibur 6, but Bandai Namco has been steadily releasing new character trailers in anticipation of the game's full release. Over the weekend, two more characters were introduced: Zasalamel and series mainstay Ivy Valentine.

Zasalamel was first introduced in 2005's Soul Calibur 3 as a scythe-wielding mage whose role is closely tied to the existance of Soul Edge. His attacks are even more magically-tinged this time around than his last few entries, with his moveset incorporating magical runes and time-slowing mechanics.

Ivy, who like other characters in the game has reverted to a look closer to her Soul Calibur 1 outfit, leans even harder into her whole dominatrix thing. Her attacks include using her chain blade to whip opponents, and even features a really cool special move where her blade turns into a bow. Also, her character trailer might be a bit NSFW, so you've been warned.

Soul Calibur 6's story is still shrouded in mystery, but is said to be a revised look at the events of the first Soul Calibur game. Hence why all the characters look younger, or are based off of designs from earlier games. There are a lot of returning favorites like Nightmare and Sophitia, but new characters have also been introduced suggesting that despite the game's mysterious place in the series timeline, new story elements will be introduced as well.

Soul Calibur 6 already has a slate of characters announcedincluding Nightmare, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Xianghua, Kilik, and new character Groh. With Ivy and Zasalamel the roster balloons to eight. Hopefully we can expect at least double that for the full roster.
