Spider-Man From Insomniac Coming to PS4 This Year

Marvel's Ryan Penagos confirms that Spider-Man will be swinging to PS4 in 2017.

It looks like we have a basic idea when we're going to see Insomniac Games' unnamed Spider-Man title for PlayStation 4. The title was first announced at Sony's E3 2016 press conference, but since then, we haven't heard much about it. In a Marvel livestream captured by a Reddit user, Marvel Digital vice president Ryan Penagos confirmed that the game would be coming in 2017.

"There's even more on the horizon for 2017," said Penagos during the stream. "Like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC."

Insomniac's Spider-Man title will tell the story of an new Spider-Man, unrelated to any comic or movie incarnation. The game will be open-world, featuring an original story with a more seasoned Spider-Man.

"We want all of our games to tell an original, all new story," Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann told IGN. "We want [our development partners] to have passion, we want them to put their stamp on the games. It's their game. We want it to be their vision."

Hopefully, we'll hear more about Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 at this year's E3.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
