New Spider-Man PS4 Trailer From SDCC Shows Silver Sable, Classic Costume, and More

Playable Mary Jane, classic costume, new characters!

Marvel and Sony debuted a new story trailer for Insomniac's upcoming Spider-Man PlayStation 4 game today during the Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The new trailer shows off new details and characters like Silver Sable, Spidey's classic costume, and what looks to be Mary Jane as a playable character.

The new story trailer is light on gameplay but expands on some new details about the world of Insomniac's Spider-Man. We know from earlier reports that this is an older, more experience Peter Parker, but it looks like New York is tired of having this Spidey go around and save other people. A person who I suspect is Norman Osborne apparently hired mercenary Silver Sable to hunt down and capture Spider-Man. You can see the new trailer below.

That's not to say there aren't some new gameplay details in the trailer. We can see Mary Jane sneaking around the office adding to reports from last year that Mary Jane is a playable character in Spider-Man PS4. The sneaking is because she's now an investigative reporter for The Daily Bugle.

We got a chance to play Spider-Man PS4 at this year's E3 and found the combat to be fast and exhilarating so long as the camera manages to keep up with the action. The E3 trailer was heavier on gameplay, but also revealed the presences of the Sinister Six as Spider-Man's main antagonists in the game. Though it's hinted that Doc Ock might also make an appearance.

Marvel also announced a new Spider-Man PS4 Pro bundle which can be pre-ordered now for $399.99. The Bundle includes a red PS4 Pro with the Spider-Man logo, a copy of the Spider-Man PS4 game, and a red and white PS4 controller.

Spider-Man PS4 is a new take on Spider-Man from the developers at Insomniac. The studio worked closely with Marvel to bring an original version of the character to video games, and Spider-Man will swing to PS4 consoles on September 7.
