Splatoon 2's Latest Splatfest Is Inciting a Halloween War

Choose your poison: vampires or werewolves.

Japan fought over McDonalds' McNuggets and french fries in their latest Splatfest, a semi-regular event in the Switch game Splatoon 2. Europe is feuding over the preferred way to place toilet paper: over or under. At last, North America has a new war to fling paint at one another for. It will be a grueling war, taking place in the most haunted of months. The upcoming Splatfest battle will be a topical one: vampires versus werewolves.

Splatfests are Splatoon's version of faction rally-type events. Players choose a side, play Turf War mode during a slotted 24-hour period, and the side that wins the most team battles, solo battles, and is most popular wins a medley of special currency. For players on the losing side, they walk away with a special little something too. (Though not as much.) The great Vampires and Werewolves Splatfest will take place on a very spooky day: Friday, October 13th at 9pm PT, ending on October 14th at 9pm PT.

For the past few Splatfests—cake versus ice cream, mayo versus ketchup, invisibility versus flight—I personally skewed towards the one with the cuter illustration. I emerged victorious with ice cream and mayo, but fell flat when choosing Team Invisibility. I hope this next Splatfest will be my return to glory. Team Vampire, here I come.
