Tomorrow, Ubisoft is releasing a free Splinter Cell themed mission for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands as part of Special Operations 1, the first update as part of Ghost Recon Wildlands' year two of post-launch content. The operation goes live on April 10.
Ubisoft teased Sam Fishers' arrival to Ghost Recon Wildlands last week when the company dropped a pretty meaty teaser trailer. Today's new trailer shows off Fisher in earnest along with some of the new weapons and gear coming with the Special Operations, including night vision goggles.
Based on the trailer above it's clear that Sam is a bit older but no less efficient in the way he handles the government's clandestine operations. Ubisoft says that Splinter Cell content will be introduced in both the main game of Ghost Recon Wildlands as well as the Ghost War PvP mode. Players can play alongside Sam Fisher to help him complete a "high-risk infiltration mission in fictionalized future Bolivia." The special challenge is playable either by yourself or in a team of up to four players in co-op.
After you complete the Splinter Cell mission you will receive exclusive items like Sam's sonar goggles with night vision. The Splinter Cell themed missions will be available indefinitely, but the exclusive rewards will only be available until May 16.
Special Operations 1 will also unlock a new assault class in PvP mode called Echelon. The Echelon is part of Sam Fisher's Fourth Echelon unit and has access to high-tech equipment like Sonar Pulse for short range tactical advantage. You can get early-access to the new class using Prestige points or the Year 2 Pass which players can purchase to unlock exclusive content.
There are more reveals planned for Ghost Recon Wildlands' Year 2 of post-launch content, including more PvP classes, more weapons, and more special operations.
