Star Wars: Battlefront II Focuses on The Empire on November 17

Electronic Arts officially announces the sequel to Battlefront, promising a lot more.

This weekend at Star Wars Celebration 2017, Electronic Arts and DICE officially revealed Star Wars: Battlefront II. The sequel to EA's successful online first-person shooter will be launching on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2017. Battlefront II is a collaboration between three EA studios: DICE, Motive, and Criterion.

Unlike the first game, Battlefront II will feature a full story-based single-player campaign. Players will be thrust into the role of Iden Versio, the leader of the Empire's Inferno Squad. We will follow her from the destruction of the second Death Star, to the rise of the First Order. There will be other heroes available during the campaign, including Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren.

"We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven't seen before in Star Wars", said Motive Studios director Mark Thompson. "It was important for us to tell a new authentic story, one that gives players a brand-new perspective. By putting players in the boots of an elite member of the Imperial forces, we can show them what the battle was like from the other side."

Star Wars: Battlefront II will take place across three Star Wars eras: prequel, classic, and modern. The core game remains the same, with up to 40 players being allowed in multiplayer. Criterion has been brought in to handle the vehicle and space combat for Battlefront II, making for a tighter and more intuitive experience.

Folks who pre-order Battlefront II will gain access to content inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Kylo Ren and Rey get exclusive skins and epic abilities, while the space combat will benefit from the Millenium Falcon in its Last Jedi form and a new First Order ship. There will also be a Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, with further upgrades for all trooper classes in the game.
