Microsoft is letting more games from Xbox Games Studios out into the world. First, there was the announcement of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Steam. Now, Undead Labs' State of Decay 2 is be making the transition over to Valve's storefront.
The game appeared on Steam earlier this morning, with a tentative release window of early 2020. This isn't the first time players have been able to enjoy State of Decay 2 on PC, as the title is technically available on Windows 10. According to Undead Labs, the Steam version of State of Decay 2 will have cross-play with Xbox Live, meaning Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam players can band together to push back the tide of zombies.
Undead Labs is going to have a livestream on Monday, November 25th at 3pm PT, on Mixer, Twitch, and YouTube. This stream will offer more details about the Steam version of State of Decay 2.
Our own Caty McCarthy reviewed State of Decay 2 on Xbox One back in 2018. She found a game that was a lot like the first State of Decay, but still offered a satisfying game loop. "It's the core loop of the management sim where State of Decay 2 really clicks, though I imagine it'll be overwhelming for some players just as the first game was," she wrote at the time.
