Street Fighter 5's New Challenger Is Kolin on February 28

Capcom has finally taken the wraps off the next fighter for SFV.

All of the rumors about Street Fighter 5's next character were spot on. Capcom revealed today that Kolin will be joining the cast on February 28, 2017. Gill's secretary first appeared back in Street Fighter III, but now she's front-and-center, wreaking her own brand of havoc.

"After working in the shadows for Gill and the secret Illuminati organization, Kolin makes her Street Fighter V debut. First appearing in Street Fighter III, Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill's way. She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans. Spoiler-alert, she resurrects Nash and uses him as a pawn too, showing she will do anything to achieve her goals," says Capcom's synopsis on Capcom-Unity.

Kolin uses the Russian close-combat martial art of Systema, backed by her considerable ice powers. Her V-Skill is Inside Slash, a move that deflects incoming attacks and immediately counters. Her V-Trigger is Diamond Dust, allowing her to slam the ground and hit an opponent with a long-range cold attack. If she stuns the opponent in this state, all of their movement will be frozen completely. Finally, Kolin's Critical Art is Frost Tower. When activated, she dashes forward with a quick slash. If it connects, she attacks with a column of jagged ice.

Kolin will launch with her normal, Story, Premium Battle and Nostalgia costumes. (shown below) You can unlock Kolin with Fight Money, or you can pick up the Season 2 Character Pass for $29.99. The Season Pass offers every Season 2 character, their Premium Battle Costumes, costume colors 3-10 unlocked for their normal and Premium Battle costumes, and a special PlayStation 4 theme.

Capcom also announced the release cadence for the rest of the year. The remaining four Season 2 characters will be revealed every other month beginning in February. Months without character reveals will include other information, like new modes and balance changes. Several balance changes are already in preparation for March.
