Street Fighter V June Update Moves to July, Adds Balrog

The Story Mode update is coming in July with an additional character.

Capcom showed off Street Fighter V's upcoming update last month, detailing the new Story Mode and the return of Street Fighter III's Ibuki. That update was supposed to launch in June, but as the month wore on, the update didn't appear. Now Capcom has promised that the update will be coming on July 1 at midnight PST.

In addition to the Story Mode and Ibuki, the update will now feature the mighty Boxer, Balrog! One of the original Street Fighter II bosses is returning alongside a new stage inspired directly by his SF II stage. Balrog features a V-Skill that lets him dodge projectiles and a V-Trigger that helps him string together his specials.

The trailer for Balrog also includes a brief look at the next DLC characters, Juri and Urien. Juri returns from Street Fighter IV, while Urien hails from Street Fighter III. Both fighters sport new costumes with eyepatch-wearing Juri in a latex outfit and Urien leaving behind the Speedo for a full suit. Both characters will be released later in the year, but will be playable in the Story Mode. With the current release cadence Juri will likely launch in August with Urien coming in September.

But wait, there's more!

Battle Costumes for the entire existing roster will be available for unlock and purchase, including Bearded Ryu and Macho Man Zangief. A new stage, the Kanzuki Family Private Beach, and Karin's premium swimsuit costume will be available for purchase to celebrate the summer. The stage can be unlocked with 70,000 fight money or $3.99 on Steam or the PlayStation Store. As detailed in Capcom's DLC pricing announcement (chart below) for the June update, Karin's premium costume is also $3.99.
