Streets of Rage 4 Confirms It's Coming to PC and Consoles With New Character Trailer

The mean streets will be everywhere.

The Streets of Rage revival will be headed for a number of platforms when it finally launches. Streets of Rage 4 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and it brought a new character showcase to celebrate the news.

Announced today ahead of Gamescom 2019, the retro revival is coming to all major platforms, though no release date has been set quite yet. It seems like the folks at DotEmu, alongside co-developers Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games, want to take their time on bringing back the mean streets, and the results are already looking solid. Today we get a glimpse of new brawler Cherry Hunter, daughter of original Streets of Rage character Adam Hunter.

Wielding a rocking guitar, Cherry will fight through all the new stages alongside Blaze Fielding and Axel Stone in the new entry to the classic brawler series. Some new locales are shown off, including time-of-day variations. We're already impressed by what Streets of Rage 4 is bringing to the brawler genre, with some cool new mechanics like supers.

Also, it seems like the music is once again on lock. After picking up a veritable who's who in the Japanese game music scene to collaborate on the soundtrack, this new Streets of Rage 4 trailer is suitably bumping. Hopefully we'll see a release date soon so we'll know when those beats can be thumping out of our Switch speakers.
