Super Smash Bros Amiibo for Ridley, Inkling, and Wolf Coming in December

There are new Amiibo and re-releases in our future!

News by Mike Williams, .

We already knew that Super Smash Bros Ultimate for Nintendo Switch would have support for Nintendo's Amiibo figures. The problem is there are a few characters who had never received an Amiibo, notably Smash series newcomer Ridley and returning Brawl combatant Wolf. Well, Nintendo realized the same problem.

Nintendo of America announced today that there will be brand-new Amiibo released for Ridley, Wolf, and Inkling. All three will release on December 7 and will retail for $15.99. Inkling has previously had two different Amiibo sets, one for Splatoon and another for Splatoon 2. This new Amiibo is the same model as the Splatoon Amiibo, but in a different pose, similar to the already-announced Smash Bros Daisy Amiibo. It's unknown if that Daisy Amiibo will be coming at the same time.

If you're missing an Amiibo for your Smash Bros favorite, Nintendo will also be re-releasing those figures. The re-released versions will all carry the slightly lower price tag of $12.99 and Nintendo says they'll be coming "starting later this year".

There are still characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate who don't have any Amiibo presence. Guest character Solid Snake and Pokemon Trainer are among that list. Other missing characters like Pichu and Ice Climbers, already have Amiibo on the way.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is coming to Nintendo Switch the same day as the new Amiibo releases: December 7, 2018. For more on the title, here's everything we know.

Hopefully this means they will reissue the Mega Man amiibo, so I will finally manage to nab it without having to import it.

In the immortal words of a local Target employee: "Amiibo... no I don't think we carry that anymore."

Why aren't these stupid toys more readily available for purchase?

@NiceGuyNeon The toys to life bubble burst. After Skylanders and Lego Dimension went down in flames it scared a lot of the retailers off from stocking any of the other ones. I find Best Buy is about the only halfway decent place to get them from now. Toys R Us was always well stocked with them (and the new releases to boot) but unless you got one of the few straggler stores remaining, that's probably a bust. At least here the selection at Walmarts have always been terrible, I'm fairly certain they've had the same half dozen figures on their shelf since they launched. Like the wave 1 Peach and Luigi and never stocked any more after that.

@WiIIyTheAntelope Yeah, Best Buy has some and GameStop carries a few, but it's so hard to find them. I've got requests from kids to buy specific toys and they're like $30 on Amazon. I'm torn between a hard-pass or caving :/
