With a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct taking place later today, rumors have started to spread about what might be announced. The most notable rumor is that Castlevania’s Simon Belmont will be revealed as a fighter in the game, a rumor bolstered by a recent update to one of the game’s music tracks.
The track in question is the Galaga Music Medley. It could be found on the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate YouTube channel, though has since been changed to an unlisted link. The interesting thing was that it was briefly renamed “Bloody Tears/Monster Dance”, both well known tracks from the Castlevania series. The supposed slip up was first spotted by Reddit user hinata2000100.
Belmont’s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been rumored ever since the game was first shown off, so many are hoping for even more announcements from today’s Nintendo Direct. A fully-fledged single player-campaign seems to be at the top of Smash fans’ wishlists as so far, we’ve not heard much about the game’s single-player features.
Of course, new characters would be pretty surprising, given that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already boasts the series’ biggest roster yet. Every single Smash Bros. fighter in history is being included in the game, with newcomers Inkling and Ridley also joining the fray.
We’ll have to wait until the Nintendo Direct to know for sure. It airs at 7AM PT, and can be streamed live via the official Nintendo website. For more details on Super Smash Bros.
