Super Smash Bros Ultimate has the largest roster of any game in the series so far. There are 74 fighters to play around with at launch, and somehow there are even more coming in the future. And while we don’t know the full lineup for the Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC yet, we do have some details as to Nintendo’s plans. In this Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Guide, we’ll be collecting all of the info we have so far on the upcoming new fighters. We’ll take a look at the Fighters Pass, and who the first character will be.
We’ll be keeping this list updated as more details are released. Be sure to check back regularly for new character announcements and release dates.
During the last Nintendo Direct, Sakurai announced that there would be new fighters coming to Smash. We didn’t learn too much about it, but we do know that five characters will be coming as part of the first DLC pack.
The first DLC Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate was announced at The Game Awards 2018. After an awesome teaser, which once again tricked its viewers, it was revealed that Joker from Persona 5 will be making his way to Smash. You can check out the Smash Bros Ultimate Persona 5 reveal trailer embedded above.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is getting a Season Pass of sorts, with players able to get the 5 DLC packs in one package. It’s called the Fighters Pass, and costs $19.99. There aren’t any release dates for any of these packs yet, though the website does state that all five characters will be released by February 2020. The first fighter will be Joker from Persona 5.
As a special bonus for picking up the Fighters Pass, players also get a bonus costume. It’s modelled after Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and can be applied to the Mii Swordfighter.
The DLC for Super Smash Bros Ultimate isn’t all about fighters. There will also be a new stage that comes with each fighter. We don’t know what they will be yet, though it’s safe to assume that a Persona 5 stage will be coming alongside Joker.
Finally, there will be new music tracks that come with each DLC pack that is released. The blog post doesn’t specify how many, so it’s possible that we’ll be getting multiple tracks for each character reveal. Seeing as Joker is the first DLC character, it’s safe to assume that some music from Persona 5 is on its way.
