Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Will End With Fighter Pass 2

Plans for Ultimate end with the new Fighter Pass.

Earlier this year in January, Masahiro Sakurai and the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team revealed 'Fighter Pass 2,' the second wave of DLC fighters coming to the game in the future. It turns out this second wave of fighters will be the last additions to the prolific fighting game.

Director Sakurai has a column with Famitsu Weekly in Japan, and the news comes from the latest issue. Dedicated unofficial translator PushDustin has translated Sakurai's latest column (via Ryokutya2098), and brings news of Sakurai revealing that all six fighters in Fighter Pass 2 will be the final additions to Nintendo's fighting game for the Switch.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched with 74 total fighters in late 2018. Since then, there have been six new fighters added to the game in the first Fighter Pass, including Fire Emblem's Byleth, Persona 5's Joker, and more.

There are currently six new fighters scheduled to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in Fighter Pass 2. There's no indication as to when the new fighters will be added, or the new characters that will be added, but Sakurai does note in his column that all characters have been chosen by Nintendo.

Finally, Sakurai adds that as of right now, there are no plans in place for a new Super Smash Bros. game after Ultimate concludes. Only time will tell what the future holds for the fighting game series.
