Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next Fighter Is From Arms

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next Fighter Is From Arms

Hands up if you saw this coming.

Well, this one came as a bit of a surprise. Not only was there a Nintendo Direct stealth-launched just today, but we also received news on the next fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it's from a franchise you might not have expected.

Surprise, the new fighter is from Arms! The next DLC fighter to be introduced to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be from the colorful fighting franchise that launched on the Nintendo Switch back in 2017. You can see the full Nintendo Direct with the announcement just below.

But which character in particular, there's no telling just yet. The Nintendo Direct teased that we'd have to wait just a little bit longer until we find out which character from Arms is coming over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Previously, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that development of the next DLC fighter for Smash Ultimate had been affected by the spread of the coronavirus. Although the Nintendo Direct did state that the new Arms character would be made available in June.

On top of this, there's an Arms trial available right now through the Nintendo eShop. There's no word on how long this trial will be sticking around for, but it's an excellent opportunity to get familiar with the cast of Arms before one of them lands in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in June.

So which character from Arms would you like to see make it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? I'm hoping for Helix, the blobby, slimy fighter that makes a sound like a chicken when you hit him.
