It's gonna be a good life next summer. The Good Life, a new adventure game from developer White Owls. Inc. and creator Swery, is aiming for a summer 2021 release for PC and consoles.
An eccentric "freestyle RPG," The Good Life centers on photographer Naomi and the rural English town of Rainy Woods. Things soon become unsettling, people start shapeshifting, and it's up to Naomi to unravel the mystery using her detective skills and camera.
The Irregular Corporation, which also published this year's stylish Picross detective game Murder By Numbers, is partnering with White Owls to publish The Good Life. The two games seem to have a fair bit in common: investigating modern mysteries using strange methods. In The Good Life's case though, mystery-solving isn't the only task you can do as Naomi; you can also tend to a garden and do odd jobs for locals.
The Good Life has been in development for some time. After missing its Fig funding goal, Swery brought The Good Life back on Kickstarter in 2018 with a lower financing goal, which it met . Since then, we've seen bits and pieces of the mysterious adventure. With Swery's Deadly Premonition sequel finally out and a release window set, we're one step closer to a release date for The Good Life, and finally exploring this town, taking pictures, and turning into animals.
