Switch Owners Getting Server Errors as Smash Bros. Fans Rush to Download Joker Update

Nintendo says it is aware of server problems and working to address them.

Switch owners are apt to have a little trouble logging into the eShop right now. There are currently widespread reports of players running into error code 2137-8056 in the eShop, which is also making it impossible to download the necessary 3.0.0 update in order to acquire Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The Switch owners lucky enough to complete the download mostly logged in around the first minute of availability. Everyone else is having trouble starting up the download or even entering the eShop. Here are some of the complaints making the rounds on social media

Nintendo responded by tweeting, "We are aware that players are experiencing errors accessing Nintendo eShop and are working to address the problem. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to share an update when available."

At present, Nintendo's network status is showing that the servers are under maintenance. It's unclear when they will return.

For those who are able to actually get into the eShop, Joker and the much-anticipated 3.0.0 update are now available, and we'll have impressions tomorrow. Otherwise sit tight and hope that this is resolved soon.
