Team Fortress 2 Celebrates Ten Years With Jungle Inferno Update

A decade later and Valve is still updating Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress 2 launched in its original incarnation way back in October 10, 2007, alongside the rest of the games in Valve's Orange Box. Sure, what you would've purchased then is not the free-to-play hat-xtravaganza you can play today, but Valve has continued to tweak and update the game all these years. The company missed the actual 10th anniversary date, but one week later is good enough, right?

Valve Software has announced a new update for Team Fortress 2, entitled Jungle Inferno. They also released a new animated trailer to go along with the update.

"After a decade of dustbowls and gravel pits, it's time to pack your snorkel, find your flip-flops, and endure a series of painful yellow fever vaccinations to your abdomen, because Team Fortress is heading to the tropics!" said Valve on the Jungle Inferno info page.

The centerpiece of Jungle Inferno will be Mercenary Park, a "new jungle-themed disease-ridden three-control point map," that Valve wants you to know has been crafted in-house.The update will include five upvoted community maps with a jungle theme: Lazarus, Mossrock, Banana Bay, Enclosure, and Brazil. Valve is also offering new emotes, including Dueling Banjos, Yeti Punch, and the one-handed pushup of the Russian Arms Race.

These are just the Day 1 announcements. Valve has spots for Days 2, 3, and 4 available on the info page. Looking forward to seeing what else the comapny is going to offer for Team Fortress 2?

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
