This walkthrough will help players complete the Amherst’s Apartment story mission in The Division. This is a medical mission, which grants additional Medical Wing Supplies for its completion. Follow our steps to secure evidence from an apartment building and earn XP to level up your character.
This mission takes you to an apartment complex in Hell’s Kitchen, where a suspected bioterrorist named Gordon Amherst is thought to reside. Your task is to investigate the apartment building and retrieve any evidence found there.
By completing this mission, you stand to earn a significant amount of XP, new virus reports, and Medical Wing Supplies used for upgrading your Base of Operations. Keep in mind that playing this mission with additional teammates may increase the number of challenging enemies you will face throughout the mission, so come prepared.
Investigate Amherst’s Apartment
Begin this quest by opening your map and selecting the Amherst’s Apartment story mission. This places a waypoint marker on your map that you can follow to Hell’s Kitchen. Try to be near the recommended level for the mission to ensure you are ready for the fight ahead.
Secure the Entrance to the Building
As you enter the gate to the apartment building, prepare to face a handful of Cleaners. Eliminate the hostiles to secure the apartment entrance. Keep in mind that you can always shoot the gas canisters on the backs of each Cleaner to make them go out with a bang.
Reach Amherst’s Apartment
Amherst’s apartment is across the courtyard. Resupply your ammo at the Restock crate near the hopscotch drawing, then head toward the marked location within the lower level of the building.
Be sure to loot the fenced rooms throughout the basement, as there is a loot crate containing a weapon in one of these fenced sections. Continue following the objective marker through the basement corridors until you reach a staircase leading back up to the top level on the opposite side. You’ll encounter another set of Cleaners outside, including an elite and several heavily armored foes. Be ready to take them out.
Climb the ledges at the corner of the building to reach the fire escape. Ascend the fire escape staircase, and climb through an open window into an apartment at the top. Loot the refrigerator on the left, and proceed into the apartment. Search the nearby bedroom for a loot container, then head upstairs to reach Amherst’s studio.
Search the Apartment for Evidence
Look around Amherst’s room to search the area for evidence. Investigate a dresser beneath the chalkboard in the corner to find what you need.
Extract the Evidence
With the evidence in tow, it’s time to head out. Faye Lau has ordered an extraction chopper to pick you up at your location. However, you’ll need to clear the rooftop of hostile threats before the chopper can land. Exit the apartment through the window, and be sure to Restock at the nearby crate. Climb onto the adjacent rooftop, and eliminate the hostiles roaming about the area.
Proceed forward toward the objective marker on the screen, and prepare to take on another set of enemies. A sniper will be positioned in an upper window, so try to stay in cover until you have the opportunity to land a shot. The extraction chopper will temporarily arrive at your location on the rooftop, but can’t land. Use the cord to attach and extract the evidence to the chopper before the timer runs down.
Clear Out the Remaining Cleaners
With the chopper gone, you’ll have to find a way back on your own. However, you’ll need to take care of the remaining Cleaners on the roof first. Stay behind cover, and start taking out the Cleaners.
Watch out for an elite Cleaner named Rogan who can take down your whole health bar with a single shot. Take your time with Rogan, making sure to land a few shots to suppress him during his reload periods. Eliminate the other Cleaners first before focusing your efforts on Rogan.
Once you secure the rooftop by neutralizing Rogan and the remaining Cleaners, the Amherst’s Apartment mission will conclude, and you’ll be 500 Medical Wing Supplies richer. From here, you can use your map to fast travel to a nearby Safe House.
