The Fast and Furious Family Goes Digital For Crossroads

The Fast and Furious Family Goes Digital For Crossroads

Life in the fast lane.

In May, you'll be able to live life one digital quarter-mile at a time. Announced tonight at The Game Awards 2019, Fast and Furious Crossroads is a new racing game set in the Fast and Furious universe, starring video game versions of the movie series' cast in various races, launching May 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Crossroads is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios, which was recently acquird by racing gurus Codemasters. Featuring both a single-player story mode with Dom, Letty, and Roman—all portrayed by their real-life counterparts Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson—you'll be able to race around and talk to the various members of the Fast and Furious cast. It looks to hit all the classic Fast and Furious beats: revenge, family, and fast cars.

Joining the star-studded Furious cast are two other actors: Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) and Asia Kate Dillon (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum). There look to be plenty of gadgets and elaborate chases, as well as some big setpieces—including one with an amphibuous tank of some kind.

"Players will travel from the streets of exotic locales to the murky world of international espionage, pulling off high-speed heists and stunts as they battle to take down a new threat," says the press release.

Honestly, sign me up. There is a soon-to-be-revealed multiplayer mode in Crossroads, but even barring that, I'm all kinds of down for a Fast and Furious movie that totally buys into what makes these movies shine. I'm looking forward to whatever else this video game spin-off can do with the Fast and Furious' over-the-top world of street racers and thieves.
