The First Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Beta is Exclusive to PS Plus Members on PS4 and Available Very Soon

Sony console owners will get the first shot at the new monsters in Iceborne.

You can play Monster Hunter: World's newest expansion early, but only if you're on the PlayStation 4. PlayStation Plus and PS4 owners can try out a beta for Iceborne later this month.

It begins with a Monster Hunter World: Iceborne beta for PS4 PlayStation Plus members which runs from June 21 to 23. Then, the beta will open to all PlayStation 4 players and is live from June 28 to 30.

To celebrate the beta, Capcom released a new trailer for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne which shows off more of the new area, Hoarfrost Reach. The 10-minute trailer runs down the story for the expansion, new areas to explore, and of course, the new and returning monsters you'll be facing. But even the returning creatures will have new abilities as a result of the snowy environment.

You'll also learn about some of the new mechanics in Iceborne, such as the grappling hook. This lets your hunter cover large amounts of ground without getting slowed down by the snow. And of course your Palicoes have some new abilities as well, like revival.

The whole trailer is narrated by your Handler, which makes it seem more of a tourism ad than a trailer. It's pretty delightful, and well worth a full watch.

Iceborne is the first major expansion for Capcom's 2018 hit, Monster Hunter: World. The developers at Capcom have gone on record to say that Iceborne rivals the size of the original game, and is comparable to previous Ultimate expansions.
