The Last Campfire, A Small Scale Adventure by Hello Games, Is Out This Summer

The studio behind No Man's Sky has a new game, and it's coming to most platforms.

First announced in 2018 at The Game Awards, Hello Games today released a new, long trailer for The Last Campfire, its next game after No Man's Sky. During Nintendo's Indie World Showcase livestream, a trailer showed the puzzle-adventure game in action.

Described by the Direct-like presentation's narrators as "a more intimate adventure," the new game from Hello Games will be its first title since 2016's No Man's Sky, which has seen a number of hefty updates over the past few years. In a blog in 2018, Hello Games called The Last Campfire a "Hello Games Short," likening it to Pixar's animated shorts. In a blog posted today, Hello Games writes that the project was started by a couple developers at the studio "who had the urge to make an artistically focused single-player adventure game."

The Last Campfire is a new direction for Hello Games, as it hopes to foster voices within the studio outside of its grander games like No Man's Sky. It will be the fifth game released by the developer, coming after No Man's Sky and the Joe Danger series. The Last Campfire is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in summer 2020.
