As of today, The Last of Us Part 2 has been out for exactly one week around the world. Sony has released the launch weekend sales figures for Naughty Dog's sequel, and it's become the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever.
After just three days, The Last of Us Part 2 had sold through four million copies worldwide. The news was announced earlier today on June 26 over on the PlayStation Blog, with Sony senior vice president Eric Lempel delivering the news that four million copies in three days makes the sequel the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive to date.
Previously, 2018's God of War held the record as the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive game, shipping 3.1 million units in three days. Earlier this year though, Final Fantasy 7 Remake beat this record, shipping 3.5 million copies in the same amount of days.
This is all topped by The Last of Us Part 2, of course, which managed to ship four million units in the same time span. Earlier this week, we reported that the sequel easily led the UK game sales charts from the week it was released, despite only releasing on the Friday.
It was actually announced earlier this week that The Last of Us Part 2 was the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive release. Now though, we have actual sales figures to go along with that record, thanks to the PlayStation Blog post.
Yesterday, it was revealed that there any plans for DLC for The Last of Us Part 2. If you loved the Left Behind DLC for the original game (as many did), there unfortunately won't be any version of that for the sequel.
